All students must have a minimum education level of completed the 10th grade or above or its equivalent as required by the California State Board of Cosmetology to be eligible to take the State Board examination.

Those who has had high school diploma from countries other than USA must have his/her diploma translated and notarized by an authorized representative in USA.

All applicant students will have to take and pass the CPAT admission test, administered by an independent tester, with a score of 42 in Language Usage, 43 in Reading and 41 in Numerical or higher to be allowed to enroll in the school.

Non High School graduates or its equivalent, seeking Federal financial assistance will be require to pass the COMPASS test, with Writing Skills ( 32 ), Reading ( 62 ) and Pre-algebra/Number skills ( 25 ); therefore a minimum scaled score of 119; as stated in the test publisher guidelines. This Ability to Benefit (ATB) Test is to be administered by an independent third party; Mr. Vy Chi Nguyen’s office located 3620 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach CA 90807 Tel (714) 422-5070, NOT by school personnel. Then the ATB score sheet will be sent to Publisher to be scored and the result will be sent back to school. Based on the result, the school will inform to the students passing ATB test to enroll for the course. Students subject to these criteria are referred to as students admitted under the Ability to benefit guidelines. Students who fail the test may retake another ATB test after a (10) day waiting period. The school’s admissions personnel will provide applicants with additional information as to how to arrange for the required Ability to Benefit Test. All students must have completed the 10th grade or its equivalent as required by the California State Board of Cosmetology.

Student may begin training at 16 years of ages, but must be at least 17 years in order to take the California State Board Examination. Applicants enrolling in the Teacher Trainee course must also possess a High School Diploma or GED or its equivalent and a current Cosmetology license. We can not accept enrollment based on ability to benefit.
